How to Market Your Community

Social Media

Marketing your town, your tourism event or your local business is critical to keeping customers coming through the doors.  In our media-driven age, it is important to understand that although it may not be completely accurate that “image is everything” it is an expectation of most consumers.

Internet marketing and social media are tools that not only attract customers but engage people in conversations.  More ED organizations are using social media to share information about their communities, their business climate and to engage residents and businesses in local or regional initiatives.

We created a Social Media Planning Guide to help developers think about their goals for social media.

There are a lot of marketing tools and education available to help communities and businesses promote themselves online.  We listed the ones we know about in North Dakota but also included some free training sites that have been tried and proven useful for businesses and organizations.
